Specialized counseling, education, and evaluations to support your weight loss journey — every step of the way.
You worry that weight loss surgery may change how you see yourself — and how others see you.
You feel pressured by people who don’t fully understand how complex obesity and metabolic health really are.
The people closest to you may not understand your decision, no matter how hard you try to explain it.
And you may be carrying emotional weight that no one else can see.
You don’t have to navigate it alone.
I’m here to help.
My name is Candice Milligan — a licensed therapist and Board Certified Bariatric Counselor. Whether you’re preparing for bariatric surgery, navigating life after it, or simply trying to understand your relationship with food and your body, you don’t have to figure it out alone.
Weight loss touches more than your body. It can shift how you see yourself, how others treat you, and how you relate to food, relationships, and your own identity. Those changes deserve real support — not just a program, but a person in your corner.
I’m here, and I’m ready to walk this journey with you.
With care,
♥
Feeling nervous about Bariatric surgery?
Preparing for surgery starts with caring for your mind, too. Let’s prepare together. I provide bariatric readiness evaluations and emotional support to help you feel prepared, confident, and supported before surgery. 💜
Healing doesn’t end after surgery or weight loss.
I provide ongoing counseling and support to help you navigate behavioral change, emotional wellness, and long-term success after bariatric surgery. 💜
You are not broken.
Real healing begins with support that understands your story, not just your symptoms. I provide Individualized Care that meets you where you are and helps guide you toward where you want to be.
Not always. Most bariatric programs do require a psychological evaluation before moving forward with surgery — but counseling is about much more than meeting a requirement. Whether you’re pursuing surgery, a medically supervised program, or beginning your weight loss journey in any form, emotional preparation is one of the most powerful investments you can make in your long term success.
Yes. All sessions are held virtually — secure, confidential, and available from wherever you feel most comfortable. Because sometimes the safest space to open up is your own.
Evaluations are supportive conversations designed to help us better understand your emotional readiness, coping skills, and the support system you have around you — so we can build the best path forward together.
Yes. I regularly collaborate with physicians, bariatric programs, dietitians, and other healthcare providers. Good communication across your care team means better, more consistent support for you — and that’s always the goal.
Yes. I currently accept BCBS, Cigna, United Healthcare, and Aetna. If your insurance isn’t listed, please don’t let that stop you from reaching out. Self-pay and sliding scale options are available.
